Marja Humphrey, PhD, NCC, LGPC

Marja Humphrey works with individuals, couples, families and groups to remove barriers to happy, healthy, and honest relationships. She specializes in working with adults, especially women, who want to increase their relational satisfaction. In the counseling session, she will focus on your unique needs and provide support for you to explore your concerns, make decisions, and take action towards living a meaningful life. 

She is an assistant professor of Counseling at Bowie State University, preparing graduate

students to work professionally serving in urban communities. She is the co-author of Elements of

Culture in Counseling, a multicultural counseling text, and has published several articles. Dr. Humphrey presents at state, regional, and national Counseling and Psychology conferences. Having served non-profit organizations as a discussion facilitator and board member, she is a frequently requested speaker and emcee for panel discussions and other curated events. Energetic and encouraging, Dr. Humphrey believes in living life not on default, but with intention. An avid learner, connector, and truth-teller, Dr. Humphrey offers challenge and support to others who choose to pursue

meaningful lives.

 

Dr. Humphrey earned her doctorate in Counselor Education at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her master’s degree in Psychology was earned at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Marja Humphrey consults with and has provided training for mental health agencies, private businesses, and community organizations. When not working loves to travel and enjoys time connecting with her family and friends over great food and music.
