Tammie Hedgeman, LMSW

Tammie Hedgeman is a seasoned social worker with over 20 years of experience. She is a native of Washington, DC and an Army Veteran. Ms. Hedgeman began her career as a student at Rowan College in New Jersey where she earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1994, while working as a program assistant at local group homes for behaviorally challenged and mentally disabled individuals. In the midst of this, she was deployed to Operation Desert Shield where she earned her veteran status as a member of the Army Reserves.

Ms. Hedgeman has held several positions with the State of New Jersey Child Protection and Foster Care Systems, as an Intake worker, Specialized Foster Care Program Coordinator, and Supervisor for the Southern Region Foster Care Unit. Her experience included child abuse and neglect investigations, program coordination for children at risk of institutionalization, and supervision of foster care placements.

She earned her Masters of Social Work Degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 2000 and became a licensed Social Worker. Ms. Hedgeman has experience as a certified school social worker and has worked with the child study team, in addition to providing group and individual counseling to students and their families. She has also provided in-home family and individual therapy.

Ms. Hedgeman provided case management and early intervention services for children aged three and under as a county program specialist for the Special Child Health Unit. She also has experience working with brain injured individuals in group home settings, providing behavior modification and crisis management. Most recently, she was employed as a Psychiatric Social Worker at a Mental Health Hospital providing case management, group, family and individual counseling to patients involuntarily committed to the state psychiatric facility as a result of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses.

Ms. Hedgeman believes in a person centered approach, challenging her clients to live the healthiest life possible in their current circumstances, assisting them to see the possibilities beyond their circumstances and the steps they can take to move toward them.
