Children & Families Counseling

child4.jpg

Each family has their own dynamic and in many families, that dynamic can be stressful. Family therapy focuses on helping family members improve communication with each other and resolve conflicts.

The counselors at The Stone Foundation are trained to work with all types of families. An in-depth understanding of the issues facing blended families, single parents, co-parents and traditional nuclear families will allow us to support your family as you grow and develop.

Your specific treatment plan will depend on your family’s situation. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times. Our program will give you the tools to communicate better, negotiate differences and problem solve in a healthier way.

They say, “it takes a village to raise a child.” This proverb speaks to the fact that while a parent or guardian may be the primary caretaker for a child, there are many other caring adults that support that family system and contribute to the molding and development of a young person. From extended family and close personal friends to educators, coaches and counselors, we all play a role in the development of our youth.

At The Stone Foundation, we understand how all of the people around a child are important to their overall health and embrace a collaborative approach with those supports in improving the quality of life for the youth we serve and their families. We believe that in order to provide quality and comprehensive services for a young person, we must involve family and coordinate with the school when necessary. Each child is different and each situation requires a different level of intervention. Our staff is trained to properly assess the needs of a child and develop a collaborative and creative treatment plan to meet those needs. Likewise, we offer support for parents and families of young people that are managing issues to ensure that the entire family system is provided necessary supports. Issues that we can provide counseling support for include but are not limited to:

  • Academic Underachievement

  • ADHD

  • Adjustment Issues

  • Behavioral Problems (in both home and school settings)

  • Blended Family Issues

  • Bullying

  • Coping Skills

  • Divorce and Separation

  • Fear and Anxiety

  • Grief and Loss

  • Parenting Issues

  • Sibling Rivalry

  • Social Development

  • Trauma

  • Weight Issues

What Our Clients Say

My daughter is currently in therapy here and she loves it. I've seen improvement in her awareness of bad behavior. If I could get her to actuallt do the coping technique, it would probably be even better. It has only been a couple months but overall nothing bad to say about The Stone Foundation. Based on other reviews, maybe it's different for children vs adults.
